Working with Close Reading Indexing and Editing was a fantastic experience in every aspect. Dr. Komornicka’s indexing work on my manuscript was fast, thorough, and came with clear explanations of how to evaluate the index and how embedding worked. Her sharp editing eye also caught typos and other errors that had passed my notice and that of the press editors and reviewers. Put simply, working with Close Reading at the late state of the manuscript process made my book a better book.

Jolanta Komornicka did excellent and amazing work for me on Health Communication and Sport. Her work was punctual and I really appreciated that she was familiar with what the publisher needed and even caught some things I missed! I highly recommend Jolanta! She will be the only person I use for book projects moving forward!

I have trusted Jolanta to index two large multiauthor volumes for Cambridge University press. Both projects involved contributions from a variety of disciplines and the terminological challenge this can entail. Jolanta has the perceptive eye for detail that these projected requires. Both indices were produced on time, and allowed the publication process to proceed seamlessly. I recommend her to anyone in the humanities.

In May of 2023, I contracted Dr. Komornicka to index my monograph, “The Claremont Run: Subverting Gender in the X-Men” from the University of Texas Press. Dr. Komornicka’s work on the project was exceptional – timely, attentive, and automatic. The job was done beautifully with no hassle. Nonetheless, Dr. Komornicka made herself fully available to handle any problems that might have arisen (though none did) and her conduct throughout all aspects of the process was highly professional and courteous. In all aspects of the situation, what struck me the most was the incredible luxury of having an indexer with the capability of Dr. Komornicka on my team throughout this portion of the publishing quagmire. I highly recommend her without any reservations whatsoever and would be happy to speak to anyone who would like further elaboration.

This is an extraordinary index and I am highly impressed. The index insightfully highlights recurring issues and running themes in a way that brings out the topic of the book and the kinds of arguments I am making, much better than I could have done myself. You truly understood what I am trying to do and created an aid that will help readers navigate my book’s arguments. This is incredible work. Thank you!

As a published scholar and an experienced indexer, Jolanta Komornicka was the right person to complete an embedded index for me on a tight schedule. The thoughtful design of her index effectively complemented my book’s table of contents as an avenue of entry for readers, and her standard offer to revise the initial index enabled me to customize the final product to my specifications. I will turn to her again for future indexing projects, and I recommend her very highly to others seeking a talented professional to index their book.

Dr. Komornicka’s efficient and speedy review of my Index will support the reader in accessing some dense material, and I am very grateful to her for excellent work. I would be happy to engage Dr. Komornicka’s services again.
I am so grateful for your attention to my Index. I am particularly glad of the detailed directions for next steps; I’m confident I can meet the first three must-do actions and hopefully the other three as well. You’ve brought it to another level, and I appreciate your work very much.

Jolanta’s index is a magnificent piece of work. I’m so glad I hired her to prepare it. I cannot imagine putting in the work to do this myself, nor do I think I would have done anywhere close to as good a job. For example, her entries on Bernardino of Siena and Summa (Antoninus) are extremely impressive in their thoroughness and clarity. Her entries on capitalism and moral theology also stand out as particularly well crafted. I also like the entry on Scripture very much. I’m so grateful that readers will be able to use entries like that one to find all the different facets of the topics that are dealt with in my book! Thanks for all the hard work and careful thought.

Thank you very much for this SUPERB index. It covers the main topics of my book and the relations between various historical developments EXTREMELY WELL. Merging headings of the PRC and the DRV is also a great move, as the very goal of the book is to ask people to think outside the box of China vs Vietnam as if they’re unitary actors when looking at the borderlands. I’m very pleased to see that both proper noun and abstract concepts are well included in the index. I believe I’m very lucky that I found a great indexer.
